I have looked and haven't found a good enough answer for me to feel comfortable moving forward on my leak. A little back ground .I'm working on my 73 f350 390 c6 2wd. I have replaced the pan gasket straightened the pan flanges cleaned the transmission to find where the leaks are coming from. Found the vacuum modulator leaking replaced it. Now there is a cover to something on the passenger side right above the pan rail it has 4 bolts holding it on. What is behind that? Can I pull it off and reseal it with out causing more headaches? I can post pics of it if needed. Sorry for the long post
I had this same exact thing. I even replaced my pan before figuring it out. It's called the "Servo". And you can not get the gasket by itself without buying the entire gasket kit. Funny when I shopped, my local parts store priced the kit at close to $90 tax and all. But you can find the kits online for as little as $25 on up to $180 with this particular gasket in it. I pulled my cover, cleaned off the gasket and then just used gray permatex and fixed mine. Has been leak free for over a year now.
Actually, that price isn't too bad. The last dealer cost was $7.87 and last suggested list was $12.11.
Mike, that price was for a package quantity. Since the part number is obsolete, I couldn't find how many came in the package, but would guess at least 4.

Oops!, you're right Bill. I forgot the prices are always package quantities. Too bad they don't also list what that "quantity" is .
Thank you all for the advice. Mike ooo and numberdummy you guys have my respect for the knowledge you guys share. Ford can you post a side pic so know if that is the same cover as mine. That would be cool if I could replace a oring and use a little right stuff rtv to stop my leaks
