My buddy has a 99 powerstroke and he lost power this morning on the way to work. He told me that he had just left his driveway and was shifting from third into fourth around 2400rpm. It lost power before he got into fourth. No noise or anything unusual. It's not missing or idling funny. He said that sounds like the turbo isn't spooling like it normally does. It's whistling at low rpm. I could hear it when he pulled up this morning. It has a TS performance programmer also. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
I would second this also, a good and cheap (well free!) fix if it is the case. Don't forget the two boots (orange if stock) under the spider that go into the heads.....
We looked at it this evening and all the boots were on. I noticed what looks like a vaccum hose had been pieced together and come apart. Put it back together and all fixed. Told him to get a solid piece of hose and put it on. It comes from the y where the intercooler tubes meet and goes to a relay on the passenger side. Is that related to the wastegate?
