Yesterday I swapped out the power valve because I just put the wrong gasket on it wasn't popped like I thought. I used the vac from the old choke to keep the heater valve closed under the carb. And I adjusted the float back to 7/16 spec again.
I drove it today to test it and it seems fine now. Was slightly boggy around one turn but I attribute that to it being in 2nd because all was well after it downshifted and got the rpms above 1k.
Not sure what happened here, could anyone shed some light on what might have fixed it?
Drive it for a little while before giving it the "all clear". But, maybe a piece of crud was dislodged under the needle and seat. These older trucks have a lot of trouble with rust in the tank and lines for example. Who knows, wag. Lots of repairs are just being methodical and meticulous about testing and setting things up. Act like you know what you're doing
