I sent them the same pictures and here is there response:
Thank you for providing these images.
Sometimes, making a very tight-fitting header creates new problems, as is the case with this. Unfortunately, it does look like our mistake, and that the tubes were not dimpled in these locations. Donna (the owner) will be calling you shortly to discuss getting those back.
Did you tell them of your problems? Donna did call, apologized, said someone had made a mistake and forgot the dimples, and they would ship me new ones plus a return shipping label.
Paul,
I haven't called Sanderson as yet. I 'intended' to capture images, as like you did, and request some answers. I'm looking at 2 no fits on each side (minimum) but have been sorting other fitment issues and other build issues. I'll be forwarding my bolt up issues to Sanderson within the next day or two with images. Engine is NOT installed.
I had an issue because the coated header peeled the coating on 1 tube. Sanderson said I must have had the temp over 1200? degrees to melt the coating on the single tube. Interesting as the fuel input was a carb & NOT Fuel Injection. I wonder how we got a carb to over-fuel one cylinder? Irrespective of what may/should/could be, Sanderson recoated the header the header at zero-$0-cost. Still was a pain in the assss I didn't need and Sanderson refused to acknowledge.
We all know stuff happens and the world isn't perfect. But when ANY vendor refuses to admit a mistake may have happened, then I suspect that vendor is an idiot and as crooked as a dogs back leg. I like honesty and can/will accept it. Lie to me just 'once' and I'll consider you as the piece of **** you deserve to be.
Well that confused me...
Was there any whiskey involved in the response? Not being critical because I've been there/done that and never fault anyone for the same things I've done.
Dan
Nope. Rich just didn't spell check before he posted it. You know how smart phones hear what they want to hear?
They sent me a UPS label. When I talked to them, there was a big sigh when I told the lady the headers were coated. She said they'd dimple the tubes, recoat them and ship them back to me.
Just a guess on my part but my headers were used on my dyno test so maybe that's why they're not replacing them.
I wrote them back in 05 or 06 and asked if the ford 360/390 oem starter could be removed with the fe427 headers installed.
I never got an answer back.
Orich
It certainly can be removed with the headers installed. Simply remove the transmission, bellhousing, flywheel, and spacer plate and then the starter comes right out.
My new Sanderson FF427 headers arrived today and the bolts clear the holes. All seems good. Will install them next week at an exhaust shop - need new collectors and open headers attract the wrong kind of attention.
Did you get the coated ones or plain Jane ones. You may cook the RTV off as your suppose to do a heat cycle of like run for 15 minutes and let cool repeat on run longer something just sayin.
Orich - I bought them bare. I didn't want to coat them until I knew we didn't have to bang on the to fit. I'll break it in on bare steel, then pull them and coat them next year.
When, I put on my Sanderson's on then went and bought a few lengths of flex exh pipe at the auto parts store for temp use to drive 10 miles to the muffler shop after doing the heat cycle then drive. worked for me.

Interesting, your engine perches look different than mine. The headers look nice, once you go with a CJ style head your choices diminish significantly.
These are CJ heads, but not CJ flange headers. Truck originally came with 360, I pulled it back in 1990 and put the 428CJ motor in.
I ran a set of Blackjack's on it since 1988, but they were just too warped to seal anymore. These were not perfect and I used a flat board on them til the welded was smooth and consistent for a nice seal before I coated them. Time will tell.
