Right now my 5er sits 3.5 inches high with the lowest setting on my highjacker hitch. Granted my truck is lifted 6 inches and the 5er lifted 4 inches. Total height on my 5er is 14'. I have no problems clearing bridges and such.
My concern now is when I pick up my new truck. I will be setting the factory hitch I ordered with the truck to its highest (18" according to curts specs.) I'm hoping my trailer levels off or worse case, sit 1"-2" nose low. If that's the case I'll have to lower my pin box. My clearance should be between 6-9 inches. I'm trying to avoid lowering my trailer. One reason is because it'll cost some money, second I like my trailer having ground clearance when I'm off the beaten path.

Asking because I see some having some potential clearance/leveling issues with their current fifth wheels. Will we see the RVs start to modify their dimensions, etc to adapt to the new trucks or will it be left to the owners to figure out how to set up their trucks/hitches to level and have appropriate bed clearance?
I think so. My Vengeance 377v is a 2016 and stock its pretty high.

Thanks. I've got to say, wow! that's a lot of pin. Did you weigh it or is that an estimate? With the 4794# payload on your new truck, you'll be the first one to overload an f450! (Recognizing that the rated payload is due to the class 3 limit, not the truck)

I think the RV manufacturers gradually move to match the new configurations of trucks. If you look at 30 year old fifth wheels they all seem to be lower to the ground, and when you see one hooked to new trucks, they always seem to be front high. Our '12 Flagstaff sits almost dead level hooked to my '08 F250.

Good point. They'd have to shorten the bedroom a bit to make up the difference. Good thing I put in a 14' door to my garage...

Trailer leveling

For those considering leveling the trailer because it is nose high consider this.

DRV - maker of Mobile Suites and Elite Suites has a build option of adding a 2" riser to the rear of the trailer.
For those of us, like me, who buy a Mobile Suites off of the lot, without the 2" riser they get their work done at Mor Ryde in Elkhart Indiana.
Quite a few of the DRV owners have had this done at Mor Ryde. One owner I know of had a 3" riser added to the rear of the trailer. My understanding is that the going price is in the $17-1800 range.

As soon as my F450 comes in I will have to hook everything up and see how it sits. This may be something I get done over the winter.

Just something to think about.

Don, it's funny you mention this. I am strongly considering getting the MorRyde IS and disc brake conversion done to my RV next spring. When it's there, part of the process is to level the trailer to the truck. My new 17 being a couple inches too tall may be the push I need to get the conversion done. Best part is, the leveling process is part of the upgrade and there is no additional charge.

I have had the IS conversion done before to my old 5'ver. With what they do their should not be a charge for the Riser install. Good timing. Hope it works out for you.

I have a buddy who bought an XLR similar to mine around the same time I did. I'm going to try to work MorRyde for a discount if we both go at once. They have more than one bay now and can tackle more than one project at a time these days.

Rodney,
The MorRyde IS and disc brake conversion is the best thing you could ever do to your trailer. MorRyde does all of this kind of work for New Horizon which is a premier hi-end custom RV builder.
MorRyde also does the Bigfoot levelers which you may want to check out.
