Talked with Line-X today guys. They did not pull out the LED lights or the switch. He said they have gotten good at taping them off and they worry about breaking them if they take them out. I can't tell on the lights, but there is a little tiny place where I can tell on the switch. If you guys want some close ups, I can post them.

I hate when people give those kind of weak explanations. If they can't back out a screw and push a plastic tab without breaking it I wouldn't want them applying the Line X. They're just lazy and don't want to take the time to do it. Looking at the pictures however, they do a great job of taping off. You only see the tape margins if you look closely. And at the end of the day it probably makes zero difference in how the liner works. It's just not the way I would do it or want it done. Maybe a bit of a perfectionist mentality. When it comes to my truck, nobody does nothing half way. Me excluded of course.
At the end of the day it is just a damn bedliner. Anything that close to the light is going to cause more damage than the bedliner can protect. Black it out and move on. The quality is far better than most others on the market and I am sure you will enjoy it for years to come.

This coming from a guy who is known for his attention to detail... Excuse me, but who are you and what have you done with Rob?
EpicCowlick - I'm with you. I want it to be done right. Period. One of my concerns with taking the lights and button out though is that they won't click back in due to the thickness of the bedliner. Maybe the only answer on those 2 items is to tape them. The guys that did this one look to have done an awesome job. They removed all the bolts, tie downs, etc.

If they are indeed click-ins, there's probably no way they would work with the thickness of the Line X. I'm going off the comment on that Line X video where the guy said he does it that way. When I get my truck I'll take the tail light off and look in there. Then we'll know for sure.
I guess I was really fortunate then. I originally had the factory bed liner on my order and the dealer GM said to take if off to prevent it from being delayed at the factory. They did the LineX after-market and for the same price $495 as the factory liner.
They took all the hardware off and replaced after spraying in the liner. Looks really good.
Didn't get the LED bed light. It was my mistake when I went to the build and price, the box-link picture showed a light and I assumed that the LED was an upgrade.

Well, years ago I used to load a new to me truck with gravel and then shovel it out right off the bat. No more argument with myself about scratching the bed. Now I am a little more careful but I still expect the bed will show signs of wear. The truck is a tool and I will maintain it the best I can but also not be afraid to use it. So Rob is still here. Yes I was drinking some fine Anejo Rum last night with my wife and a friend and we toasted the VIN with vino. (How sick is that?) Anyway a little holiday around the light wouldn't bother me. Planning a trip to Alaska next summer with the camper on board. I imagine the truck will never look the same afterwards and as much as I would like everything to be perfect I will respect the road dings and scratches as a well patina-ed finish!!
