GO LOOK AT ONE THE SHOP HAS ALREADY DONE FIRST! Some guys are good and some not so much. Also, not sure if the 17 MY has holes in the top of the rail under the plastic, might be worth finding out first. Personally I'd go under but have seen it done over and looks good as well.
Why not order the Ford tough bed liner like I did? I'm very impressed with the quality plus its already done when your truck gets here.
It's worth considering the factory liner as Rutcutter said. I had liner spray the bed last week. Apparently Ford changed bolts for the bed and line X didn't have the socket so they sprayed over bed bolts. It doesn't look as clean as it would have if they removed the bolts.

AZ, they can fix that for you once they get the proper tools. They can cut the liner off the top of the bolts and remove them as they wanted to in the first place. Then they can spray the exposed bed under the bolts and replace them. There's no need to mask off the bed and it should look like it never happened. It should be easy for them. Line X has a lifetime no-questions-asked satisfaction warranty. This is one of the big advantages of the Line X. The warranty doesn't expire at 3 year 36000 miles.
I think I might have the line x put over the top rail. I plan on a roll-n lock bed cover later.
Will it look cheap?
Should I stay with the plastic piece that cover the top of the bed rail?
Thoughts?
Not sure about the roll-n-lock, but my Backflip cover is attached with clamps which seals the frame to the plastic cap on the bed rails. The edges of the bed rails are still visible so the plastic maintains color scheme of the truck. My Backflip has been in place 5 years and still doesn't leak at the rails.
Personally I would not go over the top of the bed rail w/the spray liner. Even with a straight, even line, I just think it looks cheap. You asked. Just my 2 cents.

I did not know that. Thank you for telling me. I will definitely check with them in few months
Go Line-X!! My Chevrolet factory spray in liner is cracking and separating fron the bed. It's only a 2015 but Chevrolet won't warranty it as my truck has 70,000+ miles on it.

I have the factory spray liner on my 2013 Platty..... We have banged it, loaded lots of skid loads into it, and thrown stuff in the bed. Not a damn scratch. Could not be happier. (Wish I could say the same for the plastic tailgate cover that house the HUMP for the Step and Hand assist, it has a few rubs on it...LOL)
