How long for a VIN?

After you ordered, how long before you received your VIN?

Dealer estimated 10-12 weeks for delivery. It's been six weeks since I ordered and all I get is it's in processing! Dealer still claims it will be here in the 10-12 week estimate. I have serious doubts!

Ordered 2017 KR Ultimate, 350 dually 6.7, 410's

No set time frame and with Ford holding up scheduling, a delay isn't unlikely. The great news about delays is it increases the odds of a better rebate!

I ordered a KR with the Ultimate package on July 20. No VIN or build date. My order is priority 10.
There must be a parts shortage for the King Ranch trucks as I have saw only one or two out there

Priority number is internal to the dealership. It means you're in the top priority allocation slot for the dealer, but anyone other priority 10 orders made there before you are still ahead of you. It has little meaning to a customer, because every dealer could have their own process. If they make everyone 10 is no different than if they make everyone 19.

Welcome to the Forums. I want your dealer. Or maybe I should have ordered something nicer instead of a Lariat SC 350. My order was placed 23Apr16 and is still "in processing, cleared." I signed in for the long wait by ordering retail but it breaks my stones to see other retail orders from June being delivered already. But the belief that every days' wait means more problems alleviated is still foremost in my mind and a way to maintain sanity.

Retail can lock in a price, stock typically gets allocated sooner.

I spoke to a ford customer relation center on the phone today trying to get an update on my truck. They told me the status is still in "order processing" status. It's been ordered 8/26/2016. I asked why it's still in that status. She said it's probably farther in actual status but doesn't get reflected in the system right away. She said from order to delivery it was 8-10 weeks. She also said if the vehicle is a "large" vehicle, i.e. "Super duties and larger the process takes a bit longer.

You order stays at order processing until it's issued a build date. As I said in the other thread, Ford posts status updates on Thursday.
Build time right now on a SD is undetermined. It depends upon the trim level and options that you order. Ford really fouled up the introduction of this new SD as they appear to have a bad shortage of parts. With any "normal" order your 8-10 weeks would be correct. Since many of use have had truck on order for many months that are still "processing" I would say you might be in for a 12 week or more wait, unless Ford can get their act together and start churning out the 80 SD's per hour that they are supposed to be doing.
The SD being a larger vehicle means nothing other than they can't make as many of them in a day as they can let's say a Focus or Fiesta.

Good luck and I hope you are a patient man as me and lots others are about out of patience

I am no way a patient man lol! Thanks for the clarification. I'm sure they will start pounding out the trucks. I'll just keep me fingers crossed.

I bought my first new truck in 1970, a Ford F-100. Since then always had a Ford truck in the garage and many were ordered. Best as I can recall all were delivered in 1-2 months. So this current situation is either a manufactured event or a colossal screw up.

Ford knows to the vehicle how many trucks they produce per hour. They hyped the new SD for over a year, creating demand. They accepted orders months in advance of starting production. They created a media frenzy with the recent Colorado media event. But they failed to order enough parts to ramp up to full production? Sounds rather hard to believe.

Hopefully they get their act in gear soon so we all can stop drooling and start driving what we ordered.
