I recently purchased a '49 F1 which is stock (V8) except it has been converted to 12 volt. After driving it locally a few times I was concerned as temp was running between 3/4 & H. I pulled the thermostats today and they were 195F and I am going to assume the stock ones were 180F.
I have already ordered the 160F thermostats as I was concerned about the higher temps. What temp thermostats are being used here? It will be warm weather driven only and stored during winter.
Thanks for the responses, I am going to flush the system with FleetGuard Restore + as I had to drain the system to repair a water pump. The thermostats aren't here yet so it will be a couple of days before it gets done.
The thermostats were the culprit for the high temp, now I have a hard time running much above a quarter on the gauge. I'm sure flushing with restore+ helped out also. I have a set of 180 thermostats on the way to see if I can find a temp in the middle, Thanks.
