Has the cooler weather has started to hit my area I beginning to think that my thermostat is starting to stick. My truck takes forever to warm-up and when it does warm up the temp. gauge needle does't even rise to the the "N". I shot the thermostat housing the other day with a infared thermometer and it only registered 163 degrees (this was after an hours highway drive). Anyways, my question is what temp. should my truck run at and what temp. thremostat should I get?
The stock thermostat is 192-195 degrees. I had a 180 in mine and switched it back to a 192. I've heard that running anything other than stock can affect the engine computer controls, that it decreases fuel mileage, and can also increase engine wear. I installed electric fans, and haven't used them yet, as it always runs between 200-210. I would stick with the stock 192 thermostat.
