Has anyone ever tried welding a split rim in 4 or 5 places after a tire has been installed, with 10 psi. in tire, a older tire guy made this suggestion. Any ideas good or bad.
It's been asked before, but have never seen it done. And never read an encouraging reply. The welds would be directly below the flap in the middle of the rim along the semi-drop center joint. The heat would to my view be enough to melt the flap to the tube and maybe damage the tube. The tube then might hold 10 psi but at what level would it let go? If you do it please don't say we encouraged it. Stu
That is a very interesting video. So that could be another way a widowmaker could kill you. Thanks for posting that.
Any tire/rim combo when exposed to that kind of heat. I found that on a tractor site and you know how farmers are fix all with what they have. I hope it posted here saves people from making that mistake.
