Ok...First I want to say I am new on here and hello. we have the 1997, 7.3 diesel power stroke 4x4. We have had the truck for 10-12 years.
We do not have an issue with the acceleration of the truck, not caused by the position sensor. The truck does not have an issue when we push the pedal down, it goes with no problem. What we do have is to seem to be a very stiff/hard pedal. After holding it down for a "very" short time both my leg and my wife's begin to cramp up very quickly, call me week or a wimp if you want, but it sucks, makes the truck very un-fun to drive. We do not have this issue in any of our other vehicles or trucks.
So my question is, is this a normal thing for the pedal to get like this? Is their a fix with out having to buy the whole assembly, and if so are they like that as well, stiff/hard? I can not find anything on the web regarding this issue.
Go ahead and laugh, but any idea's or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I know what you mean. I fixed that problem by removing the spring and heating till it was glowing red, it soften the spring enough to become "soft" so far it has held up good for the past 3 years. Hope this helps.
So I got the pedal off, did you grind off the rivet to take the spring off? And what did you use to replace it?
