Don't get to fanatical about orange peel. All paint jobs have some even top of the line Mercedes and Porsche of today. I look for it in every car since so many people are trying to get rid of it while they talk original. Sorry, but original Ford paint had orange peel especially so back then. If you use the right size nozzle, good fan setup, spray technique and correct reducer for temperature you can keep it to a minimum and not need to do any color sanding.
1500 grit? I hope you don't run into any trouble down the road. Yea good move doing the other area with 600 grit before paint.
Almost everyone gets some kind of orange peel.
Those german cars come out of the factory with more peel than american/japanesse despite being higher end cars.
I agree, the right gun settings can give you a factory orange peel paint job.
