Anyone bought touch up paint in a spray can? I have an accessory that I want to paint to match the color of my truck (Ford 2015 Silver Ingot). I poked around some online, and found maybe a half dozen sources, but really have no idea who does a good job in the paint matching department.
It's not super critical, as I am color blind anyway, but I don't want to make a fool of myself (I have been known to put on 2 different colored socks).
Go to any auto paint supply store. They can mix the correct color code and put it in a spray can for you. Do not trust part store Duplicolor, I've found it never matches.
Spraying from a can is never the ideal solution, hopefully they are small parts that will be out of the way.
Best solution, take the parts to a body shop and ask them to make you a deal. When they paint a vehicle with the same color code as yours. there will always be paint left over and already in a spray gun. The parts might have to stay there for a week or two, but they will be done right.
I have heard great things about Automotive Touch Up. I don't know how recently updated their paint colors are, but they have every paint color for most car brands dating back to the '30s. Apparently they have dead-on color matches, and you can buy it in paint markers, brushes, and rattle cans. They also have clearcoat that comes with each color, so it must be some pretty high-quality stuff.
That is one of the places I saw on the net (AutomotiveTouchup). Their web site and paint finder appear really good. Just kind of sight unseen, you know?

My Dad has a paint chip the size of a nickel on the hood of his Molten Orange Raptor. I recommended that he get some matching paint from AutomotiveTouchUp, and he will probably get a touch up marker from them this spring. When I get my truck repainted soon (probably this spring as well), I will get some touch up paint in both factory colors, just as a precaution. I can post 'after' pictures if we make progress.
A good body shop should have the necessary equipment to mix any color in any quantity. The last time I had work done on my Ford, when I went to pick it up my wife drove me there in her Honda. The shop owner said "give me the paint code for your wife's car". Five minutes later he handed me a 2 ounce bottle of touch-up for her car - "on the house". It actually matched better than the tube of paint from Honda's parts department.
