Hello, my name is Wayne, my first post here. I'm a former BMW mechanic from the 1980s.

I recently bought a 1989 e350 Powerstroke It was having trouble cranking over. The behavior was to turn the switch and I got nothing. a click noise.

I thought it was the ignition switch.
Maybe a weak battery? bought a new one.
I thought it was a poor battery connection.
found a missing bolt on the starter, installed that.

I was playing with the starter relay under the battery and jumping the relay to make it crank over and it did very well.

WHEN. something went wrong and now. Zero electricity. No dome light, no radio. Zip, nada, Zilch.

I checked all the fuses but can't find any blown fuses, there must be a hidden inline fuse. I did find one close to the batter with yellow wire, I tested it with the Ohm meter and it's not blown.

So I need your help. Does anybody have an idea of what this might be? My guess is a missed inline fuse because all this started directly after I was jumping the starter relay on the right side of the vehicle.

Thanks for any help, this truck is blocking my driveway and I need to get it moved. I called ford but nobody had any idea in parts about inline fuse's.






I cleaned the connections and than jump and got cranking but then all power stopped. No dome light no radio, like an inline fuse.







Yellow wires are inline fuse that show not blown.

 

I think you mean 98 not 89. My guess would be a bad or unhooked fusible link.
