What years and engines have the same a/c ststems? My 81 came with a 300 and a/c and the PO put a 302 in and left the a/c out and cut the lines. Wanting to find a JY a/c system that will bolt in without having to get lines bent.
Cant help on yours but guessing any 302 brackets, etc will work if using a V belt.
Would you know if the PO still has the 300 six AC brackets and maybe the motor plate that goes between motor & bell housing?
I need both for my 81.

TWO different types of A/C: Factory installed integral A/C (combined with the heater) & dealer installed A/C
The factory AC has 1 big box on the firewall and heat & AC are all in this box.
Just the factory box
Factory box mounted to firewall
Factory AC has vents in dash.
I do not have any pictures of the dealer installed AC but a guess of how this was done on older cars they had a unit the fit below the dash. You could run heat & AC at the same time as they had 2 different controls, 1 for AC other for heat.
Factory AC you can only use heat or AC not both at same time.
Sorry no picture of the factory heat/AC controls in is in the center of dash were that big hole is.

How do I know which one my truck came with? It's got a sticker on the core support, for what that's worth.
Here are some junkyards in Georgia that have a evaporator coil. That is the coil in the firewall box. This may give you leads to yards that keep this old stuff around. If you find one with the complete A/C system intact, with a 302 or 351w, no matter what year, I would grab the whole thing. Just make sure youknow what year you are getting. The car parts stores do carry compressors and a few line sets, accumulators and other parts that you will want to use new.

That's what I needed to see, thanks Dave. I have factory a/c. Are the lines routed the same from 80-86 or 80-later and are they the same for six cylinders and v8's, carbed and EFI?

They did have different line sets, different compressors, minor changes throughout the years.
What do you have and what is missing on your truck?
Then look those parts up to see if they can be bought new and how much it will cost. And also check the junkyards.
If that doesn't work out, I would put a whole system on it from some other year truck. I would make note of the year, and then check the parts stores and see how much they carry for it.
A show stopper might be the compressor mount. Does the engine you have now have the pulleys and brackets for a compressor? If not, you will need all that too.
You will become an expert on 80-86 A/C systems by the time it's finished. If you are not up for that it might not happen.

I have the factory box with the accumulator mounted and the condenser. I can scavenge the parts, just not sure about the hard line routing and placement for different years.

What about the compressor and it's mount? The condensor is always in front of the radiator, though they use different fittings sometimes. The accumulator and evaporator were always in the same place also. The type of compressor and the engine setup will determine your lines. You need to do something about a compressor and it's mount.
I just looked at autozone's site, they have the liguid line and the discharge line, about $40.00 each. I believe in 86 they used the round fs6 compressor.(I looked up a 86 fuel injected 302).
