I am sure the B&W or the like would be over 100K lbs. Although, this is not anywhere close to what I need. Bigger is better only applies to certain things, and I don't think 5th wheel hitches is one of those things.
As long as the Andersen does what it is sold to do, is relatively light weight and can provide a smooth towing platform then I will be more than happy with it.
Today I received the Andersen hitch like the one in the picture below for $504 from Amazon.
In all, the triangle, ball, pins and coupler weigh in at 48 lbs. The triangle itself weighs in at 41 lbs. Of course, this is all based on what the bathroom scale that was moved into the garage says. So, the weights can be off by a pound or two, or sometimes as much as 25 lbs in the mornings following a shower. has nothing to do with the

Since I already had a good hitch, and didn't want to spend the bucks required to buy another one from Ford, I went with the "picture frame" and mounted my conventional hitch to it. I did have to adjust the height of the hitch to compensate for the picture frame. It all comes out, giving me a clean bed when I need it.
I have a B&W 3300 Companion sitting in two boxes in my living room... Will be installing it after my RDS 51 gal auxiliary tank/tool box comes in and I install it.

You will love the B&W...easy to install, comes in two pieces.

What is this Andersen rated to handle? And then the next weak link will be the adapter? Does anyone know if a Andersen ultimate and adapter be able to handle a 20k 5th wheel?
Mess?? I'll bet you an Anderson doesn't ride as nice as an air bag hitch. I had an old style hitch, once I got the Hensley air bag unit I was totally sold on this type of hitch....never go back.
Yea they cost more but when you spend $40, 50, 60 on up for a nice 5th wheel you better not skimp on the hitch and how it will make your traveling nice or uncomfortable. To each his own.....
Cyncwby, Couldn't agree more. The air ride hitch is the way to go not only for ride but for protecting your investment. When you look at a solid hitch where do you think the shock from a loaded trailer goes ----- it goes to the frame of the truck and it goes to the frame of the trailer. Yes, they do cost more but in the long run they will pay off.
JMO but once you have an Air Hitch you will not go back.
