Been lurking here a while, love what I see and what looks like a good community.
So diving in here is my question:
I have an 86 F-150 with the deluxe Lariet trim. This means my tailgate has the insert. My problem is the insert is beautiful but the plastic brackets inside are not. These are the four brackets that fit into the back of the insert and they receive the screws from the backside of the tailgate. Confusing?
Anyway, if I've made myself sufficiently clear are any of you able to steer me toward a source? I've checked a few junkyards locally to no avail.
If necessary I can post a pic this weekend.
Yes, I'll head over to introductions this weekend and do that.
Carefully measure what you need. There are all kinds of clips, maybe something like these can be made to work. They tell you in the description how tall they are. Or possibly you could get some of these and try to epoxy them to the trim and then see if they will hold.
I would think a metal strip made to run up/down to catch the panel edges like the stock clips, 2 long screws glued or welded (to keep from turning) to the strip to fit the holes in gate. Pop in place install nuts and call in done.
Just know any used old ones will be brittle and could fail and the panel fall off.....not a fun time then.

Fuzz you bring up a good point, something picked would probably be brittle.
What about 3D printing?
Now that may work I just never gave it a thought.
There was talk on here of 3D printing of the slider door locks. Do a search for the posts and maybe reach out to who was doing this and see if they will work with you.
Unless you have a printer or know someone that does.
