License plate mounting

Hey guys I was on how everyone mounts their license plates because mine is hidden behind my bumper and just got pulled over for the 3rd time today. My bumper does not have a place to mount it and I'd rather not drill any holes. Any suggestions?

Styleside or Flareside?

I'm betting Styleside...but I can see how with a Flareside you could go to the side like a lot of people do, behind the fender on some bracket.

The factory rear contour bumper has two top holes for the license plate. What bumper do you have and why not drill any holes in it? Is it that nice or why are you hesitant? If it is an old step bumper you should be able to always weld up any holes you drill now if they are not wanted in the future. It's just a couple of 1/4" holes.

Some people put their license plate in the rear window. I think that always looks temporary. Some fasten it to the tailgate with screws. I think that's a horrible idea. I've seen others run it on the sheetmetal behind the bumper in the two factory holes for years and never get pulled over. It's sort of like seatbelts. If the truck came like that they really are not supposed to ticket you if you don't have any. Grandfathered in. I can see a license plate needing to be readable from behind, though.

You could maybe hang it below the rear bumper but you'd still have to have some bracket to attach it to, but maybe you could just drill holes into the underside and not notice it. But, the POPO might have an issue with it being so low. I'm a poet.

Otherwise, I haven't seen many other options, but the imagination can run wild.

This is the set up right now. I was thinking I could drill into that metal piece directly in front of my plate but I'd rather not attach it to the face of the bumper if I can help it (I don't think I would like the look much) I'm also not sure if it would then be to low to the ground or still obstructed. Also I would have to drill a hole in the plate itself, that may be a whole nother legality issue because I'll be covering the "Tennessee" portion

EDIT: I realize now that'd it would also cover other important things so that wouldn't work

I will probably have to drill holes but would rather get some fresh ideas and opinions on it before I go that route

Hey guys I got to looking at it and it turns out that someone already made a mount and drilled holes. All I did was unbolt the mount and move it to that "L" shaped piece. Also I found out that it has a light mounted on it so I've got to figure out how to get that working

In your first picture I can see a white bracket just behind the bumper on that drivers side. Part of the bumper itself maybe from the look of it? It looks like it has two holes in it. Maybe use some short flat stock to go from those two holes to the two bottom holes in your plate. Not sure if you could keep the numbers above the bumper but still have room to open your gate all the way. Might be a potential there, anyway.

EDIT: I typed that too slow and see you have the solution. Looks good from here.
