Taurus issue....

On our 2001 Taurus wagon the "door ajar" light is on when ever the engine is running.

The thing is, the bell only sounds when we open a door with the keys in.

So I don't suspect the door switches, even though I have 'cleaned' the switches with massive doses of WD40 and exercising the doors.

Any idea?

Cleaning a bad switch won't make it work.... as the WD40 did NOT work for you (or you didn't give it enough time OR you squirted it into the wrong area), the switch is prob bad. They are replaceable. Does the warning light tell you which door? Engine running should not matter, only with the key in the "ON" position.

Unfortunately all the display show is there is a door open (unlike the F350 that tells me which door).
I did four cycles of 10sec of wd40 with 10 open/close cycles, so I doubt it was "not enough", missed the mech... could be.

I'm guessing it's not the driver door, but with 5 doors (including the back door) to take apart & test (and then replace the one switch). I'm not looking forward to the troubleshooting.
