Putting headers on a 460

This might be a stupid question but I'm considering putting headers on my 1989 f250, it's a 4x4 with the 460 and five speed. I'm wondering if I have to do an egr delete to avoid check engine codes. If I have to do the delete what does that entail? I'm new on here so if this has been answered somewhere else on here just post a link and I'll look there. Thanks in advance for any info.

You won't throw any codes if you just plug the egr tube at the base of the egr valve. No egr, no codes, win-win.

Okay cool. Thanks for the info. At least I'll only be out the cost of headers and not all sorts of egr junk.

Most of the headers offered retain the EGR... so... Why would it throw codes?
