Smile 460 EFI Headers with EGR

Bought a set of Turbo-Shop Tri-Y headers for my 1990 EFI 460 Motorhome. They look good, heavy tubes, 1/2" thick flanges, Chrome Plating, but there is no provision to hook up the EGR valve that currently feeds from the back of the left manifold. Has anybody effectively dealt with this on their installation? Do Banks, L&L, and Thorley headers have an EGR provision? I'm thinking of running run a EGR feeder tube off of the Y-Pipe/collector. Will this work?

HarrisFD, I can't speak for the other brands but on the banks headers I installed on my engine (1997 460 ) they came with the egr and air injection ports as needed.
As for modifying you headers you could weld a port for exhast gas supply tube to the egr valve, but I don't know wear your skill level is at when it comes to fabricating and welding (just some food for thought). p.s have you installed them yet or can you return them? Regards, Domenico....

My L&L's don't have the air-injection ports, but did come with a weld on EGR tube thing. You just had to put the headers in place, line up the EGR tube and tack weld it on. the pull the headers and weld it on,, and drill the hole. Hope this helps

just plug it. unless you live in CA or any other emissions **** state. then you will need to enlist a welder.

Thanks for the info. Unfortunately I live in California, the Eco-**** capitol of the world, so I have to hook up the EGR. Also, not sure if the computer could deal with the mixture change caused by plugging the EGR. Welding is no problem for me. For those of you with Headers with EGR provisions, Is the EGR bung on a primary tube or in the collector? I wasn't sure if enough exhaust flow can be supplied from one cylinder.

All the headers I have seen for 460's have them in the primary tube.

460 EFI EGR HEADERS

The headers I have on my 92 are Doug Thorley tri y and the egr fitting comes off the rear pipe on the drivers side. They came with a adapter fitting and the egr hooked right up with no problems. The Thorleys were expensive I paid about $500 for them but have had no problems.
