Electrical problem

While changing out a light bulb in a door panel I had to use pliers ( bulb was broken ) I knew I would blow a fuse but it has taken out the dash board, power windows and even the radio I have checked the CB 601 and that's fine any ideas what to look for next ?

Not knowing what year...I think 41 instrument cluster would be a good start...not sure why but 35 is also listed as instrument cluster.

For some reason when the lights in my running board burnt to a crisp, it took out the same elements...I think it was 17..Those should be good numbers...

Thanks, running board lights are out also and your right it is # 17 for them but that's not the problem, it seem to be whatever relay, circuit breaker or fuse that feeds those circuits all fuses in the panel ate good !

Fuse F41 feeds all those lights via a relay in the instrument cluster.

Makes perfect sense in light of my previous post. If the cluster is not powered, the relay cannot be energized and the lights cannot work.

What doesn't make sense is how a short circuit in the lighting string can take out the fuse for the cluster.

Tell me about it that's why I went thru it fuse by fuse on all affected systems never would have thought a 10 amp fuse could affect so much !
