How to disable auto lock function..99 Expi

I really dislike the autolock function in my 99 expi. I want my doors unlocked from the outside sometimes when Im driving..especially off road.. and I dont want Ford playing nanny state

Is there a good way to disable it permanently?

If memory serves, the locks run through the RAP Module, which is linked to the cluster on 99+ Expy/Navis. Hop on eBay and get a service manual cd/dvd (look for "EVTM") or try your local library for free wiring diagrams. When i crack open the 99 manual next, i'll pdf the lock section for you.

The procedure is in your owners manual, not a service manual. But here it is anyway...

Deactivating/activating the autolock feature:

Before following the procedure, make sure that the ignition is OFF and all vehicle doors and the liftgate window are closed. You must complete steps 1-7 within 30 seconds or the procedure will have to be repeated. If the procedure needs to be repeated, you must wait 30 seconds.
1. Turn the ignition key to RUN.
2. Press the power door unlock control three times.
3. Turn the ignition key from RUN to OFF.
4. Press the power door unlock control three times.
5. Turn the ignition back to RUN. The horn will chirp.
6. Press the unlock control, then press the lock control. The horn will chirp once if autolock was deactivated or twice (one short and one long chirp) if autolock was activated.
7. Turn the ignition to OFF. The horn will chirp once to confirm the procedure is complete.

Thank you very much...I have shop manuals and owners manual on order... But now I can complete this immediately.

Alloro: Do you have any more info on some of the other setups, such as auto setting of the outside mirrors when the remote unlock is used? My mirrors go all over the place now and I want to disable setting the mirrors when the remote door unlock is pressed. I had it at the dealer once and they turned the auto mirror off but it came back on again and I haven't found any info on the secret setups.
