Starting problems
A few days ago truck wouldn't start...clicked like a dead battery, but wouldn't turn over. Changed the battery, but made no difference. Put a brand new starter in it and it fired right up...started and drove fine for several days. Yesterday I went to start it and only got the click again. Rolled under the truck to check the starter connection and all looked good. Tried it again and it started instantly.
When the starter got installed I had to splice the solenoid wire to connect it to a lead that was already attached to the new unit. The original didn't have this...it had some type of clip that hooked up to a tab on the original solenoid. So I had to cut that off and connect the two. I'm thinking that I didn't crimp it well enough and may have a loose connection...but does anyone else have any ideas?
It's a 1992 bronco 302.
