I'm trying to make some decisions on an upcoming purchase. My current bed liner is made by Ford. Came original with the truck. I use a board near the back as a divider. That gives me a 20" section at the back. This works perfectly for my usage.
When looking at the 2016 with the bed divider it gives you about 17" at the back of the truck. The notches on the side of the truck bed are closer this that to the tailgate.
I'm trying to find out what the new bed liner dimension is from the board notch to the tailgate. Also if I go that route how would I access the bed light button?
That's exactly the information I needed but not the right answer. I guess I'm back to the drawing board. I did notice that the bed divider bracket could be shifted forward on each side. It is mounted in a large square area. I'd prefer not to drill holes in a new bed but may not have a choice. I really need it to be 20".
You could build and offset bracket. You may lose a couple inches of bed width.
I gave that some thought too. Makes me wonder how they arrived at the dimensions they have. Seems like they'd want to maximize the space from the wheel wells to the tailgate.
Is there space to bolt "custom slots" in the bedliner iteself rather than the bed? Take a piece of angle iron and make your own board notches wherever you want. The liner should be firm enough to support that well once you put the board pressure on it.
Although I've been pleased with my current bed liner I am questioning every conceivable option on this next truck. I want to make sure it is exactly what I want. I really like the Ford bed divider system. It just looks better than a 2X8.
The bed liner on the other hand provides a better work area on the tailgate. At this point I'm leaning toward the spray in liner and relocating the cleats for the bed divider. The good news is I'm not purchasing until next April but I'm trying to plan ahead.
