kind of a dumb question, but has been irritating enough. 03 supercrew Lariat - the bed tie-downs are so low that even 5 gallon buckets fall over. Already felt underneath to see that there are no holes to put tie downs on the rails. Question before i pull the bed rail caps (because they will probably never go back on right after six years) is there tie down about 3/4 way up the bed in these trucks. Parts store guy looked and there is tabs in the bed liner sticking out. Want to know before I dremel holes in the bed liner. every truck I see my body style has bed liners - so I can't tell.
Figured it would be a little easier for someone with a spray in bedliner (or no bedliner) to just look in their bed and see. But thanks for the suggestion handshaker.
i dont know if a supercrew bed is like mine, but my styleside bed has a 1/2 hole under the bed rail by the tailgate. you might could put a eye hook and some washers through it.
yeah looked all under the rail caps and no holes anywhere. The GMC's have squares already out and you can buy the tie-downs at any auto parts store. I probably just end up drilling through the rails and putting bow-eyes in. Thanks for looking.
I've had a similar issue with those tie downs. When I go camping, I need to put in a propane tank in the bed. But it'll roll around quite easily. So I bought a milk crate and put the tank in there. Then bungee cord the crate to the tie down. That seems to work the best for me.
Thanks for the replies gentlemen. Now my curiosity is cured without having to pull things apart. Probably just drill through the rails - or just leave it alone and complain to myself every time I have to tie something down like I have for the past six years. Not a big deal when we have a hunting trip or something else planned, we use bins to keep the rain out. Just a pain when someone tells me to randomly throw something in the back of my truck. I'm **** about having stuff secured in the back of the truck.
