Hi everyone,
I have a 78 F150. I removed the rubber insert from the body side molding because i wasnted to have them powercoated, wondering if anyone knows how it re-installs. To remove it, you just take the screws out of each end and pry an edge up and pull the rubber insert out. I cannot figure out how to put it back in, however. Anyone know? I have looked all over the internet looking for this info, but found nothing, please help
You might of messed up by just puling it out and rounded off the edge of the rubber insert? So you might try sliding it in from one end or the other? Good luck.
it does not seem to slide in on the edges, the edges are kind of pinched down so it does not slide in (at least that i can tell). I dont think anything is damaged when i removed it, it just pulls up and out of the channel easy. It is just that the insert does not just press in easy, looks like it requires a tool. If it can just slide in from the edge and i am missing something let me know.
Maybe a extra pair of hands holding it (the black rubber piece in the bottom edge of the groove) in place while you use a tool for a windshield seam to work it in?
But any metal tool scrap off your power coating, see about a plastic push bar?
