Hey all, I was just wondering if any of yall knew a way to remove dents. I was involved in a hit and run in a wal-mart parking lot. Well you know didnt report to insurance so it would-nt get rates to go up. now i pulled the dent most of the way out . its just still htere. It is behind the reaer wheel well on hte passenger side right above hte muffler. If yall need i might be able to posta picture if someone tells me how.
And old timer in the body shop biz once told me that small and shallow dents can be removed with dry ice by holding the ice on the dent just enough to pop it out, never tried it though.
If it's a small dent without being stretched sometimes you can use a toilet plunger to pull it out, The metal around the dent is usually what was called oil-canned, the old type oil squiter that you pushed on the bottom to pump out the oil. the can would spring back into position. when you have someone pulling on the plunger use a good putty knife and hold it over the edge of the dent area tapping on the putty knife with a small hammer sliding around the edge of the dent. For comparrison hold your hand as if holding a ball, the dent edge will be like where your knuckels are. If you tap on your knuckle while pulling up on the end of your finger hour hand will straighten out, like the dent is supposed to. good luck
That could be your best choice. There is a guy in my area (The Dentman in Orange County NY) that will come to your location with all his tools. He gets behind the dent and massges it out for a decent price. I'm sure that there are similar contractors in other areas that do the same, ask around. I've had it done on a Nissan 300 ZX which was tough because of tight spaces. It should be easy on a truck.
