Random Engine Quitting
I need to pull the intake and check the 42 pin for chaffing. Tomorrow. I'll ohm it out to be sure...
I'm down to 1/2 tank, and the fuel pressure is dropping more than 'normal' when using the fun pedal (usually better than 70 but now as low as 60). While it wasn't at the top before, I'm leaning more towards a hutch/ harpoon as a near future effort. Looking now at kits vs DIY style. Opinions are welcome.
I know this is way OT, but the world gets smaller all the time. I grew up in Satsuma, and still have family there, but I just don't get down there very often at all.
I pieced together a list from Sous' post, mostly because I wanted the Racor vice the Baldwin spin on. That will happen in the near future.
I programmed the engine back to stock, forgot all about the Tow Tune I had in the PCM. Not sure how you were able to recognize that, Rich! I bought an OBDLink WiFi MX (cuz yeah, I'm an iOS guy) for easier monitoring. Having some minor issues getting the PIDs worked out since I'm using their OBDLink app and not Torque Pro (I think the equations have slightly different syntax). But the pressures (EBP, EGP, MAP, Boost) and not in agreement- something is going on in there. Near as I can tell, ICP, IPR, FIPW and RPM are all in normal range.
Last weekend was a SOB with the weather and yard work, hoping to get to check chaffing and maybe replace the AFE 6637 with a non-reusable to make sure there isn't a restriction I missed in a bad cleaning job. Truck doesn't fit in my suburban garage and those t-storms are a real PITA to work in.
You will find one big improvement with your stock tune - your ICP will likely reach 2800 PSI ICP, where it was barely able to eek out 2400 before. Tall FIPW numbers invariably kill ICP - which is your atomization and real power. Your EGTs should plummet with the stock tune, but I also get that the truck will feel anemic. There are other ways to get that feeling back in the pants (mental remarks fly in right about now), without skyrocketing the EGTs and making all that soot.
Your EBP sensor says you live in a submarine during KOEO, and the MAP shows you live in Denver. Maybe the EBP sensor and tube can be cleaned and begin to read correctly again. Some have had luck with this, I did not.
The screens were pretty dirty and there was plenty of junk in the housing
After finishing the mod, drove for only 10 miles or less and this is in the Racor
Fuel pressure is around 68 at idle and varies under acceleration from low 60s to high 60s. Not sure what my 'normal' is since I was running 70-72 before removing the restrictions. I'll have to keep an eye on it and see how things progress.
Pre cleaning, KOEO-
And KOER-
So, I took off the EBPS and tube and cleaned them out. They weren't real dirty, I wasn't able to clear the tube entirely, but I was able to easily blow air thru it and the sensor seemed ok. Got it all put together and-
KOEO
And KOER-
And now I'm getting the EPBS DTC. So, that didn't exactly go as planned. When putting it back together the bracket and tube didn't align 100%. It looked like I bent the bracket slightly breaking the EBPS free. Also, the sensor doesn't sit flush on the bracket but I don't recall if it did before I took it off. So I'm wondering if I need to take the sensor off again and try to align the bracket and tube and then reinstall the sensor.
Any thoughts?
