I have 3.0 v6 with a code that tells me its runing rich at 1/2 to 3/4 thottle. I dont know what I need to change to fix the problem. Is there anyone that has this code befor and know what it means. Thanks GregR
Iam sorry I dont remember the code numbers there was two, one for each bank. It was something like 139 and 154 I don't remember. But I do remember that it was, to rich at 1/2 to 3/4 thottle. The check engine lite comes on when I step on the thottle to pass or get on an on ramp. It gos out the rest of the time. I also have a 2000 XLT 4X4 ( I got new) and when I back up and sometimes going forword, but mostly backing. I can hear a ticing sound like a stone in a hub cap but I have Mags. Any ideas? The truck has 109,950 + miles on it and I have done the brakes. The ticing started about 30,000 mile after I did the brakes.
Ok I have the info now. The engine is a 3.9 not a 3.0. The codes are 179 Heated Exhaust Gas Oxygen (HEGO) sensor-voltage signel not switching:indicates "rich" during part throttle engine operation, (Bank # 1) . 137 Heated Exhaust Gas Oxygen (HEGO) sensor - voltage signel not switching during Engine Run-Test. indicates "Rich" (Bank#2). I don't know what I need to repair , the oxygen sensors or the ECA or what. Thanks for any help.
Drop me an email and I'll send you the pinpoint test for the code, it will help you determine the exact cause. FYI, you either have a 3.0 or 4.0 if you have a V-6.
The 93 Ranger belongs to afriend at work He said it had a 3.0 when I first talked to him. Then the other day he said it was a 3.9. I didn't think Ford made a 3.9 V6 . Anyway it must be a 3.0 we work nights and the 0 may of looked like a 9. Thanks for your help.
