New member here. I'm Chris from VA and I just received my upgraded HFCM drain plug from Bulletproof Diesel. I did not receive an o-ring with the product. Is this common or should I be calling them first thing in the morning? Or could I use the existing o-ring from the factory drain plug if still intact/ good working order? Thank you in advance and awesome forum!
If they will do it get some extras. The time before last I had mine open to drain
and the O-ring was a bit beat up and gave aerated fuel after that. Injectors don't
like air. I replaced the O-ring and problem went away.
I've bought a package of them from McMaster, but still have the original one on the upgraded plug. As long as the O-Ring is lubricated with diesel (hard not to be) and is tightened to snug and not fully compressed they should live a long, long time. It the same with the fuel and oil caps, as a O-Ring they seal under captured compression, not high torque and compression of the cap/plug.
Thank you for all the feedback! Called Bulletproof Diesel and they said it was an unacceptable mistake. New one has been shipped my way. Replaced my fuel filters and drained the water separator and just replaced factory drain plug for now. Boy were my filters black and the main filter was full of gunk! I purchased this truck a couple of months ago with 45,000 miles and now have 60,000 miles and wish I had changed them sooner! Now I need to replace my fuel return line from the secondary fuel filter housing. I have the part #, but does anyone have a write up for the install?
