My neighbor's '07 F250 6.0 had the WIF light up. No problem, drain it. He discovered that some previous "mechanic" had stripped the threads on the drain plug on the HFCM. And it now leaks. A new module looks pretty $$$ and I've read that the manifold may be replaceable but haven't found a source yet. How about one of the thread repair products?
Anyone with some repair/replace options?
Any advise is welcomed.
I believe to cover is available seperately in a kit with new gaskets. There is a handy option for a new drain plug also, it's a large brass **** from the 6.4 trucks I believe.
You may be able to clean everything up and seal/glue the plug back in there as a temp fix but there are very few threads in that thing an a thread restorer or even a helicoil would be hard to do properly.
Turns out the threads were stripped and Rusty, you are correct, VERY few threads. He wound up replacing the fuel return manifold and not the entire filter housing.
Yahiko, the O-ring was OK but thanks for the input.
