Looking to replace the PO's sporty fat tires. My spare is a Goodyear Wrangler P235/75R15. It looks like a good tire and good size. Any suggestions? What's a good all around truck tire? Also, any thoughts about buying used tires?
General purpose AT. No extreme off roading. Don't want the tires to look tiny though. 1973 F100 Ranger Long Bed, no lift. Extra leaf in the back but that's it. I'm thinking about trying to find some used Goodyear Wranglers P235/75R15. Or maybe something that can handle a bit more load. Nothing fancy. Truck just putts around anyway.
I rack up the miles on my trucks as our farmland is somewhat spread out. My 2011 has almost 300,000 on it now. I've run a few different tires over the years. Used to run bfg's and a few of Les Schwab's better tires. I need a slightly aggressive all season tire but hate tire noise
I run a lot of gravel also. The best tires I've run lately have been the Cooper ST's. I get 50-60,000 miles per set without too much noise if I try to keep themy rotated on time.
I've run the Goodyear Wrangler and its a decent tire. Also Cooper and General.
If you go with used tires (or even new), look for the date code and inspect carefully for dry rot/cracks. As a rule of thumb, anything older than 7 years is iffy.
