Need tire advice

I running 285/75/16 on my 00 EX 4x4 PSD. Currently Mikey Thompsons Baja MTXs. DO NOT BUY THESE TIRES !!!. I'll be lucky to get 25k out of them. My last tires where BFG All terrians got about 52k out of them. I pull a trailer daily and need a good A/T . I work construction so hit a little mud and this baby sinks. Looking at Nitto tire for next time. What is the longest wearing tire ?

I don't know if you have a Discount Tire by you, but I picked up a set of their house brand tires, the Dominator A/T which I believe are made by Cooper Tires for less than $600 out the door in a 305/70/16. They have been great tires and come with a 40,000 mile guaranty, I have about 25,000 miles on them now and will probably get another 20,000 out of them.

Discount Tire also sells the Nitto Terra Grappler for the same price as the Dominator A/T but they do not come with a milage guaranty - from what the guys at Discount Tire said they should last for about 40,000 miles as well.

I've had BFG A/T on trucks before & I've always been able to get about 50,000 miles out of them, but they run about $850 out the door for a full set. So in the long run I think the Dominator A/T is a better buy

I had 305/70-16 Procomps (also made by Cooper I believe) and I had no idea how bad these were until I switched to Michelin LTX M/S 285/75-16. I could not believe the difference as I drove away from Discount Tire!

Gone was the wandering, noise, poor wear, ride, balance problems, etc.

Expensive, but you won't be sorry.

I've had none of those problems with the Dominators; they have worn evenly - rotate them every 5,000 miles, less road noise than the BFG A/T, no problems with balancing - granted I did have them ride match balanced & no wandering problems at all.

I had the Michelin LTX on my Lexus LX470, that's what came on it stock which was nice, & they are probably one of the best tires you can buy. But they are by no means an all terrain tire - highway only.

50K out of a set of BFGs? You guys must be hard on your tires! I got 97K out of my last set on an F350, and never rotated them. The next set of BFGs had 47K on them when I sold the truck 2-1/2 years ago. I see it from time to time, and those same BFGs are still on that old F350.

tires

I really like the BFG's. KO's. I have a 4X4 V-10 and the biggest tire that would fit on the stock rims was the 295-75-16's. They fill the wheel well up and look allot better than the stock Fireblowns. As for the ride there is no comparison between the stock ones and the BFG's.(Big Difference) I have also been informed that the Michelins are good as well.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>
