Front running lights question -easy-

So when I just turn on my running lights (first notch on the **** pull) the front marker lights and tail lights light up. When I pull the **** to turn on the headlights the tail lights stay on and the front marker lights turn off. Is this normal? It seems like they should stay on. The blinkers all work proper.

This is the way things worked back then.

Many rewire to have front lights on in both positions. You should consider adding relays for the lights to save the switch.
