I had a bad experience with aluminum rims on a car before, girlfriend at the time just clipped a curb in a parking lot and really not very hard snow was deep and kinda rubbed it Iwas in the car so I know it didnt hit hard but it snapped a piece off the lip on the rim and broke the seal. maybe this was a fluke but I have not really trusted them for 4 wheeling ever since. but now thinking of running bigger tires the lighter weight of the alluminum would be nice but will they break at the first smack on a rock. steel is heavy but it bends and can be hammered back(within reason)

just wondering if I am not giving alum a fair chance?

've beat the hell outta my rims and never had a problem. I offroad regulary and take turns (on a track, mind you) at WELL over what a speed limit would be.
