LMC window seal issue.

Hello!

Have any of you guys ordered the window seal kit(part no. 49-7150) from LMC?
I had these installed by a professional shop and we are having the darndest time with these things. They either aren't right, or just are poorly made because they bite down on the window so much that they're almost impossible to roll up, and then prevent the window from fully closing and sealing at the top end.
If any of you know any little tips on installing these things, please let me know. I might be missing something dumb here. Also, one side looks like it sits down in the window, close to the stock looked, but the other side is popping out, it's weird. It's like it didn't line up or something. I reached out to LMC and they're doing a review of my order or something. I hope I don't have an issue exchanging these.

Thanks!

Unfortunately as soon as you say LMC that's usually the problem. If I remember right the felts slide in a channel. If they are in the channel and they still don't work they are wrong.

Pictures would help immensely.

Thanks, but I didn't know where else to get these, I will get some images up soon, can you tell me if there is a different company I can source these from that would be better? I don't know what I'll end up doing, if I get new ones and they do the same thing, what a waste of time.

I have never seen quality replacements of these. Tabs that snap into slots must engage. If not, remove felt and pry tab open more, re-install. Inner felt sits lower, outside felt sits higher. Not all tabs may be used depending on year of truck. Door sill felts are usually never the cause of hard window operation, rather it's the glass-run felts that are tight when new. Adjust center divider track (wing window assy) to remove binding. Lubricate gear on window regulator. Use silicone lube on felts. With time, window operation will become easier as rubber takes a set.

I've had the same issues, I've considered sanding them down, or trimming the inside of them with a razor. IDK what else to do. I'll try the silicone, or maybe even some graphite first.

I found a weatherstrip kits at Rockauto.com and broncograveyard.com, no clue if they would be any better than what you have, but after hearing your issues with the LMC stuff, I'll be looking to source mine from one of these places unless I hear from someone about a better option.

Edit: Just saw Heliguy's post, will probably use that.

My dad and I installed a complete set of door window seals that he bought from LMC and they are absolutely terrible. They don't fit, the window wiggles around in the track and doesn't seal when it rolls up, and now the felt is cracking and falling apart. And we installed this about 18 months ago.

Is it the beveled felt-type rubber/trim for the windows? When I go to the Precision website, the picture they show is of a wider rubber channel that doesn't look right?

LMC' seals poor quality has been addressed many times on this forum. I have not used them yet but Dennis Carpenter's seals seem to be the top rated, and other sources like Jeff's Bronco Graveyard are also recommended.

On the plus side - if anyone is seeking to convert their 7" sealed beams to 7" H4 halogen lights, LMC's other catalogue operation 'Victoria British' has them discounted to $24.95 currently. I have used them before and they worked very well, no mounting issues at east in the old Brit sports car) at all.
