The black elbow on the red vaccum line is leaking air in a boost leak test, how do I fix it? I have the the other end off the wastegate and on the boot clamp. I am getting a loud squealing/tea kettle noise at high boost pulling trailer. Thanks.
If it's not connected to the wastegate actuator, it isn't doing anything anyhow. You can just disconnect it from the manifold and cap the nipple. If you want to reconnect it and keep it operational, those elbows are available. I bought some at Advance Auto Parts.
Thanks for your reply, I just went back out and checked and I definitely have a leak in the boot on the drivers side intake plenum. Do you guys suggest the inserts from Clay or just the new boot. How difficult of a job is it. I have never messed with the intake spider.
Judging from your spider/intake you have a L99-03, so I would do inserts and new boots, all 6, from Clay. You do not want the new OEM boots. They are cheaply made and cost about twice as much.
Consider a full set of clamps as well. I replaced all of the clamps on my system and they are worlds better than the OEM ones. Of course, Clay has those in stock too.
all 6 boots (make sure to get your intercooler measurements), intake plenum inserts (the plenum neck is super flimsy), and 4 t-bolt clamps for the spider boots. Anything less than that means you're not done with this issue yet.
