Common Areas for Boost Leaks?

Hello
I think I may have a boost leak somewhere in my system. Whenever I accelerate, I can here what sounds like rushing air, instead of turbo whistle. My turbo doesnt whistle(probably because of stock exhaust and air filter, soon to be changed), but I think even like this it should a little? Anyway I built a boost leak detector and can hear air escaping somewhere under the spider. The problem is I cant feel it and soapy water isnt working either, but I can hear it still. I tightened the crap of out the IC boots but was wondering if there are other areas that can leak?

Thanks
Derek

You will need to pull your spyder and take a look at your intake plenums. It is possible that they are crushed or have a crack in them, happens often.

It could be anything from boots to up-pipes.

I'd try to find the leak before I threw parts at it but a set of plenum inserts and some new boots could definitely solve a lot of potential issues and possibly the ones you're currently having.

I would say anywhere you have boots. Clay's PRI fixed my boost leak issues on my intake spider. I could get them sealed and the time and boost would bust off my clamps.

I can leak air out where my HPOP line goes into the driver side head. Air escapes where oil can't haha.

Good luck

Tightening the crap out of the clamps on the plenums usually makes it worse instead of better. I got Clay's Inserts and then used t-bolt clamps at the plenums and spider.

X2^^^^ you may have a crushed plenum that's leaking.
