Looking at 2012 ccsb 4wd with 199k on it. I've had 6.0's and lots of 7.3's. What should I be looking at on his truck? Should I shy away and just keep the 7.3?
One thing I would do it get the VIN and take it to a Ford dealer service dept and ask them to print you an Oasis report. It will identify any work Ford did to the truck. I would also pay for a CARFAX on the truck with this many miles. See what it reports. It it has the center display, check the engine hours and the idle hours to see what percentage idle time it has.
Personally, unless it was hell of a bargain, I would shy away.
If it's clean and priced right, I say have at it. Bunch of high mileage 6.7s running around. 2012 will keep you out of valve issues. There is a 2012 KR for sale locally with 315k miles. Guy wants $26k for it....
If you get the price right and want TRUE piece of mind, swap the CP4 HPFP out for a new one. That way you know it will be right. For what they do, they are actually fairly cheap IMO.
I sold the 2011 F-250 I had for $22k in a matter of hours. It had 240,000 but there was a 2012 engine installed in it. I sold it in 2014. The only issue the new owner has had was that the sunroof slide mechanism self destructed leading to a $900 repair. I could find out but I estimate that the truck has over 300k on it now.
These trucks can last a long time, just do what you can to learn the history and make sure it hasn't been abused.
It has a clean car fax and is 2 owners. But by looking at the Carfax I almost think it was the same owner. Body is straight with no damage or scratches. They want 19900 for it. About due for tires soon. Which isn't a big deal since I have set from another truck I can throw on it. Optioned out really nice for an xlt.

If it's a dealer and you like the truck, try 19 grand out the door. They'll probably still make a profit. Also, is the PO local so you can talk to him. Worthwhile even if long distance. Don't know if that term even applies with todays cell phones.
No there not local, the truck is from Canada and was bought at the auction. When I go drive it is there anything in particular on the motor I need to be looking/listening for other than the radiator issue? I pretty confident in checking the rest of the truck as I've had quite a few superdutys. But not familiar with the 6.7.
I came across a 2012 with 158k today that I emailed the dealer about. Plus its a long box which better fits my needs. 6 hours away but if its a better set up I.ok with the ride. And its a 1000 cheaper asking price. Still looking for any tips when I look at it.
The exhaust is a good idea. Is there a certain point where any of those components need replacing? Like an average mileage range or anything? A way to tell if it's doing the regens like its suppose to?
