So I had a bit of trouble getting my 2006 f250 to start after letting it sit for a few minutes then going to start it. It did start after a few cranks. checked my scangauge and I was getting code p2285 low circuit. Got home checked the icp harness ( I replaced the icp and harness about 1.5 years ago). All the connections looked fine. I let the truck cool down over night come out in the morning it fired right up. So took my wife to work and come home shut down the truck, went to start it back up and no go, my scanner told me my icp was at 350 or so. I disconnected the icp and still no start. I run an air test. When removing the icp I noticed the rubber washer under the valve cover is damaged and a little bit of oil is leaking out. So i am doing the air test and when I command the ipr closed ( this is before I turn the air on) I can hear noise coming from what sounds like the oil filter housing. So I turn on the air and I i hear air coming out from where the air hose screws into the icp port. still hear the noise from oil filter housing. I put it all back together and I go to start it to see what happens and my icp is reading 0 and does not change when cranking. Any ideas would be great. Thank all
I would pull the oil filter and cap and visibly look for air coming from the oil filter housing. I would also pull the valve covers to check under them visually, especially since you have to pull one due to a leak anyway.
So I just did another air test with the passenger side valve cover off and air is pissing out of somewhere under the rail I can't feel the air at all just hear it. I have all new injectors, dummy plugs, stand pipe and ball tubes/ nipple cups. Any ideas when I say new i mean every part mentioned is at least two years old or newer
Keep looking. It is under there somewhere. Use a mirror to look. You may have better results by taking some oil and pouring it in the area of the air, you should see it bubble or spray away from the source.
So I felt the air leak it's either the awa fitting or a nipple cup o ring. I think. The awa fitting o ring does not look to bad but it does look a little flat not sure how to tell 100% if it is that or not
They are cheap, replace all the nipples cups o-rings and retest. That don't work, do the injectors seals or just do them all. Not surprising, they are a wear item, I expect it every two years.
A slight twist or a small nick in a "O" ring may take months to show up. (Ask me how I know) when you have the symptoms that you have (can hear air coming out, 0 ICP, no crank) you're going to have to go in there to find it. Although I am surprised at the 0 ICP. Usually it will show something. Also using off brand "O" ring and seals will go out earlier.Remember you've 3000+ psi pounding on them.
So this morning I did some more investigation and found an injector o ring, the inner one where the nipple cup goes in was damaged. Installing the new injector in the morning. I will update then.
My parts guy just did a warranty on the injector. But the new issue I got it all put back together and now my scanner will not connect to the system and the wrench lite is on. Turn the key and nothing. Battery's have a full charge. I can get it to crank when I jump the starter wire to the positive on the bat but no go when I use the key.
