Just finished a 2 month trash on this nova, full mechanical tear down and rebuild, body and interior can now be done. Drove it today for the first time since 1995.

Oh yeah just picked this up too.

Love hate Beetle

This is the Beetle I acquired a couple years ago; finally road worthy after engine and transaxle rebuild.

Now to decide whether to sell it or store it in a snow bank this winter.

The '50 is getting to feel left out so I'll probably have to take it out tomorrow, to dust it off.

Since the 'house rules' are only having 1 project vehicle at any given time... I spend a lot of time and passion on Route 66, including the restoration of my historic gas station in Galena KS (right next door to Joplin MO).

It was built in 1896 and I doing a full store front restoration:

This is what it looks like currently (my buddy and I posing in front of it - he owns a historic motel in Tucumcari NM on Route 66)

This is what I am bringing it back to. Photo is from 1947 and I have all the signage repopped already and am working on rebuilding the structural part of the store front - it will looks EXACTLY like this photo when I am done.

And when I am not at the garage in Galena, I am working on the neon sign that hung on the building since the 1940's

The sign sitting in the garage - it was painted this on the 1970's

Found the original color by matching some overspray found inside of the sign.

Once I finish all the painting, I will letter it to look EXACTLY like this - it is a photo of the sign on the building in 1951.

I actually spend more time on Route 66 or working with those on Route 66 that I do working on my truck (hence the almost 5 year restoration) and I will turn my attention to Ford Model A's after this truck is done and start a small collection of those.

Oh, and my 'across the street neighbor'...

The tow truck on the right was the exact one the production team from Pixar saw when the were traveling Route 66 to do some research for a little movie they were creating called CARS and the tow truck on the left is what Disney/Pixar gave to the shop as a 'thank you'.

I have a letter from the producer of CARS stating my garage and the mural on the side of it were 'huge inspirations' for the look and feel of Radiator Springs.... not too shabby.

My other project is a 1975 Oldsmobile Cutlass.
It's a frame-off resto-mod: LS1 + 4L60E, 2" lowering, four disc brakes, 17" Boyd wheels.

Not a classic but a nasty little mustang that I toured W.O.W. with for a few years and then stupidly sold. This little pocket rocket had a full BMR chassis suspension treatment inclusive of tubular K, Lower LCA's / adjustable third link, coil overs, Brembo brakes and of course a mess load of motor work. Will do another one day.
