Different engine?

Is it possible to replace my 5.4 2 valves engine with newer 5.4 3 valves engine on the budget on 2001 F250. Will computer module need to be replace. Or is it more cost effective to replace it with the same engine?

Not sure where you live, but around here, it always seems like a guy could come out ahead just buying a slightly newer truck for a few thousand bucks more, instead of dropping thousands into an existing truck.

Suspect you'd need a newer computer, but not really sure. Good luck.

You would be much better off just putting in the same motor as you have. The computer will be different as will be the wiring. The other problem is the 3V came with a different transmission and I am not sure it the bolt pattern on the bell housing is the same between the two 5.4's. On a side note I would not want a 3V as there are two many issues with the cam phazers, I will keep my 2V any day...
