5.4 to 6.8 engine swap

I have a 2001 f-350 with a triton 5.4 v8, automatic. I have a chance to buy a 6.8 v-10 from a 2002 f-350 complete w/ wiring harness and computer. is there any other issues or modifications that I need to do or will it bolt right in?

The 5.4L transmission will bolt right up and will work...for a while. The 6.8L trans has more plates in the clutches for more torque capacity. You could rebuild yours to the 6.8L specs.

And I assume the computer will run a 5.4 and 6.8 transmission with no issues? Or will some programming need to be done?

I don't know about you folks...but I wouldn't spend all the time and treasure swapping an engine only to leave a transmission that probably has as many miles as the engine I am swapping out, with an undersized torque capacity.

Did you get the motor mounts?

What about exhaust?

The computer that runs the 6.8L will run the 5.4L transmission just fine.
