i have a 2006 f150 FX4.
im going to be doing the flush myself. my question is what type of coolant should i be using other than the motorcraft gold kind? and how much do i need?
the yellow extended life fluid is correct.. Not the ORANGE DEXcool.
I buy 2 gallons and mix with almost 2 gallons of water......... you may not get that much back in, depends on how much actually drains / level of truck / if you blow it out with air, etc.
2 gallons of ZEREX G-05 or Motorcraft Gold.
You can use hose water to flush but I highly advise to flush out as much of it as you can with distilled water. Use distilled water as well along with the gold coolant.
Don't forget to keep the heater on and the fan set at high.
