If the nipple cup can be wiggled freely, then the seal is bad and should be replaced. The HHC kit has a nipple wrench and the 8 o-rings for about $75.

When looking up the HHC kit, I remembered what the comment was - Ron did not like the aftermarket nipples - some of the kits sell new nipples too. Thanks for all the help with this. It is a project in my near future.

The HHC kit uses the Viton seals, they are the ones you want. I can't vouch for nipple cups.

I can't tell you. The original owner said they were all replaced at 95k, but that turned out to be not true. One was some aftermarket injector, #8 failed after I re-sealed them following this thread. I replaced that failed one with a Ford reman.

Couple of quick questions about the reseal thread you did this summer.
Were you noticing the dipstick level was rising up to your OCI? I have a feeling I am seeing this same thing on the kids truck.

This is caused by leaking injector body o-rings correct? The top seal being bad would only affect HPO readings and not cause it to make oil if bad, only lower pressures.

Thanks, just wanted to pick your brain since I noticed you had mentioned it was making oil in this thread.....tried to PM but no joy.

Box emptied.
Yes, why I resealed them. I poured out 21 quarts of oil on a 5000 mile oil change and fuel delusion above 2.5% isn't good. It's the mid body o-rings that cause it to make oil, not top seals, but the kit comes with them, so why not. Then do a bubble test... where I failed, #8 didn't seal well with the new copper ring. Cost me an injector!

Tried to rep Randy but no joy. This thread was a great treasure trove of info. Got all but two done last night, waiting on an o-ring for the drivers side oil rail and then hope to button things up soon.
#5 and#7 were a little bit of a treat to torque but it's not impossible, just takes the perfect combination length of drivers to get the wrench to clear

Excellent write up.
