Unhappy Performance enhancement recall

Just received this from Ford today:

Your vehicle was previously serviced for voluntary emission recall 05E15. Part of this service was to have the engine and transmisson control modules reprogrammed. However, the reprogramming of your vehicle received did not include all of the latest software to optimize the performance of the on-board diagnostic (OBD) system.

If you do not have this service performed:

Your vehicle may not pass emission or smog tests that may be required in your area.

Your State DMV may not renew your vehicle registration.

Your emissions warranty may be reduced.

What's up with this. I live in California and my understanding is, you do not have to smog diesel's in California. Has anybody else out there received this notice??

SFdave, Yes I rcvd mine about 2 weeks ago and am not going to have it done 'til I feel that the 6.0 is not working right. I've heard too many sad stories on these flashes. Mine is doing real good now. If it ain't broke - don't fix it !!!
