Hi all - I'm considering pulling the trigger and buying a 2016 F250 XLT 6.2L 4x4 super cab with 8' foot bed; I want to take advantage of the 0% APR. I will use it to occasionally to pull an 18' boat appx 1500# with a Northstar pop-up camper appx 1700# dry. I may pull a three horse trailer with the camper on back. A couple of questions - I've read here many folks prefer the 4.1 rear verse the 3.73 (I think I have the numbers right). If the 4.1 was not available would that be a deal breaker for you? Are dealers willing to negotiate on the price if you finance at 0% APR? I'm thinking around 40K for the truck maybe a little less? Thanks
There are the deals that Ford or Ford Credit are providing, and then there is the dealer profit margin. IMO, everyone gets whatever Ford is offering. You are negotiating the dealer's profit margin. So unless they are selling like hotcakes, they should be willing to negotiate on top of the 0%.
Towing a few thousand pounds with the 6.2 NOT in the mountains, I would think 3.73s would be fine. If you are towing 8-10klbs or more, OR if you are towing in the mountains a lot, I think you will want 4.10s or even 4.30s.
Even if the only gear is the 3.55, i would still consider it. Doesn't sound like you have a lot of weight to worry about.
Go to NADA and price the truck and see what it will cost. Do not forget the fuel fee and the advertising fee along with documents fees, title and taxes for the final cost.
I bought a 2016 XL F-250 SC 8' bed about a month ago, down here in FL where I am working. This truck had a sticker of appx 42k, had an internet price of around 34k, I ended up 40k financed OTD with a 6 year 125k mile extended warranty.
If you are going to pull with the 6.2 I would highly, highly recommend the 4.30 rear end. Tons of power and mileage I am very happy with.
The 4.30 rear end is hard to find sitting on dealer lots because they all order them with the 3.73's. That being said, when I was researching them prior to ordering mine I found a dealer in Farmington, New Mexico by the name of Ziems Ford Corners that stocks the 6.2 gassers with the 4.30's and they have several right now on their lot which I think would probably match up to what you are looking for, you should check them out online.
The 373 will pull your load fine. The boat and camper are nothing. What do you think your loaded horse trailer weight will be, 8K? The 430 would be nicer however the 373 will get the job done w/o issue.
Thanks for the comments/suggestions. It sounds like for what I'm towing the 3.73 would work. I got a call back from a dealer who is starting at 38500.00 with the Ford rebate. They don't give the rebate if you choose the 0% APR. The truck has the 4.3 gearing. I generally get four or five quotes and go with the best. I'm thinking if I can get a 40000.00 deal with the 0% I'll be doing OK. Time to put the armor on to do battle with the sales force

Don't settle for the 3.73. Get the 4.30 if at all possible. It is a deal breaker for me, and one reason I just ordered a new 6.2 was for the 4.30. With the 4.30's you get more torque to the ground, better towing experience, more towing capacity all while getting the same or usually better mpgs.
