You get 10 with 35's?!? I can barley push 7 city, and that's driving very sparingly.
Yes. That's unloaded 90% highway miles. Towing its 7.5 mpg. I also have a random miss that I can't get gone. I just feel like this dude oughtta get 12 mpg. But I reckon I should be thankful if you can't crack double digits!
Good to see some other folks in the 14-16 mpg range as well. I expected much worse out of my 5.4 when I bought it since my 5.0 in a much lighter truck only got about 14, but it really surprised me by getting in the 15's.
Yeah, I was quite surprised too. When I bought it, I figured I'd be in the ~12 range like my dad's '91 Chevy 1500 4x4 with a 350, but it gets almost as good a mileage as my dad's '09 1500 4x4.
This is a 2003 2v 5.4. 4" lift. 35" tires. 3.73 gears. Standard trans. and a miss. RPMs as high as 3,500 and I cruise at 70. This is a 20 mile round trip to and from work daily. Sometimes a 50 mile round trip to the town north of me. Hardly ever in town/city driving.
After reading some posts on this thread, I papawed it on the last tank. Never over 2,000 RPMs. Actually it may have only gotten over 1,800 twice. Never over 55 mph. Would set cruise in OD and putt putt
14.5 mpg. No doubt I could crack 15 if I fixed the miss and drove like that daily
My truck (see signature) is averaging about 13-14 MPG when unloaded. 30% city, 70% rural highway driving. I lost 1 MPG when I installed larger tires, so I went back to stock. I also typically drop 1 to 1.5 MPG during the winter.

A lot of people don't realize just how big of a difference driving style makes when it comes to mpg's. Going easy on the throttle, not flooring it to pass people or hitting the brakes and gas constantly, running 55-60 instead of 70-80, etc can easily make a 5 mpg difference on these trucks.

You are exactly right! That's why I drive my 5.4 like a little old lady going to church.
